Phil has been privileged to be reared in a Christian home and being a part of a church since he was an infant. He gave his life to Christ at age 6 during a vacation Bible school program, and sensed God’s call to be a pastor when he was a child. When he finished his undergraduate degree from Grand Rapids Baptist College (currently Cornerstone University) he returned home for a year and met Jennie. They were married in 1989 and Phil graduated with a Masters of Divinity from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary in 1992. He’s been serving in pastoral ministry since 1993 and serving at Main Street since 2002. He oversaw the educational ministries for sixteen years, and has been taking care of administrative affairs since 2018. He loves to teach the Bible and is passionate to see each person, irrespective of age, grow in their relationship with Jesus.
